An average bull frog grows to about 3.5 to 6 in (adult female), a size relative to a teacup. The largest of all North American frogs, bull frogs can grow to a length of 8 inches or more and weigh up to 1.5 pounds. However, this hunter’s catch terrified and baffled many netizens, after his photos showing his ‘catch’ went viral.
In the photos, Markcuz Rangel can be seen holding a massive bull frog he caught at one of the fishing ponds in South Texas ranch located in Batesville. The monster, dubbed frogzilla, weighed a whopping 13lbs, and it was massive enough to match a small child’s size!
While many locals were terrified of a possible ‘monster frog attack’, some netizens were sceptical about the photo. Some claim that the frog has been photoshopped and the frog wasn’t actually that big.
Though he has caught a couple of monsters before, his current catch is surely the biggest!
However, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department’s expert Steve Lightfoot confirms that there was no photo manipulation involved. Instead, it was an optical illusion, wherein the frog was held closer to the camera to make it look bigger.
